Crane Farm is a family run farm providing fresh quality products and friendly service to our neighbors.
Doris and Tyson Mertz are first generation farmers. Both began farming around 1978. Tyson began working under the guidance of Elmer Crane when he was in high school. Elmer shared all his knowledge with Tyson and eventually turned over the field duties. When Mr. Crane retired, Tyson rented the property and kept the business going. He continued to make small changes in the stand and what the farm stand offered.
Doris followed her brother into farming on rented land in New Vernon doing field work and running a small wagon stand. Eventually her brother built a large stand for his growing business, Arnold Farms, in Gillette, which she managed and developed her passion for the retail side of the business. After many years of operating separate stands, Doris and Tyson combined their years of experience at Crane Farm.
At Crane Farm, we base our crop choice on base, texture, appearance and disease resistance. We spend time making sure our produce has freshness you can see and taste. Our tomatoes are allowed to ripen on the vines assuring the flavor will be at its peak. We shop for local produce and fruit from within the US that will fulfill our customers desire for what the seasons have to offer. We carry all the foods we love to eat ourselves! We love sharing our bounty with all our customers and are happy that so many find Crane Farm to be the best place for farm to table shopping year after year.
